Islamic calendar is based on the Lunar Calendar and a new month starts on observing the first crescent of the new moon. The first month is Muharram, followed by Safar, Rabi ul Awwal and then comes Rabi ul  Akhir as the fourth month of Islamic calendar. Rabi ul Akhir is also known as Rabi us Sani.

8th Rabi’ ul Akhir – This important date marks the birth of Imam Hasan Askari (a.s.) in 232 Hijri. The 11th Imam (a.s.) was born in Madina. After the birth of this blessed son, Imam Ali Naqi (a.s.) recited the call to prayer in his right ear, and the Iqamah, the call to start prayer in his left ear. On the seventh day after birth, Imam Ali Naqi (a.s.) cut the hair of his newborn child, and gave sadaqah as much as the weight of his son’s hair to the poor as charity.
