The joyous festival, which symbolizes peace and brotherhood, is being celebrated across the country on the first day of the month of Shawwal.

Shawwal is the 10th month in the Islamic calendar following the holy month of Ramzan. Shawwal’—derived from the Arabic word Sawaal which means ‘raised’. It is loved worldwide because the first day of the month is celebrated as Eid al-Fitr. Muslims all across the globe unite to enjoy the reward of observing the holy month of Ramzan. This month can also be a very important time for reflecting on the good habits cultivated throughout the month of Ramzan, and centering the mind, body, and soul for the remainder of the year and beyond.

What is the significance of the Shawwal moon..!!

The sighting of the new moon, or the Shawwal crescent moon as it is otherwise called, signifies the end of the holy month of Ramzan, and the beginning of Eid al-Fitr and its festivities. The Eid celebration lasts for one to three days, depending on the country and fasting is forbidden on the day of Eid. It is time for charity, where money is paid to the needy in the act of Zakat-ul-Fitr. As Eid comes after the month of fasting, food and sweet dishes are often prepared and eaten. Sevaiya is the most important food item of this festival which is eaten by all with great fervor. Muslims take part in special morning prayers, greet each other with formal embraces and offer each other greetings of “Eid Mubarak,” or “Have a blessed Eid.”
