“Good deeds are all rewardable in the Kabah and sins are more serious ; in the same way, our deeds are heavier on the scales in the sacred month like Zeeqad”
This 11th month of our Islamic calendar is one of the most important because during this month Muslims from all over the world travel towards the Makkah and Medina for the Hajj. Hajj is the fifth of the fundamental Muslim practices among the Five Pillars of Islam. It is during this month that the Prophet (pbuh) returned to Makkah for the 1st Umrah. After hijrat, Prophet (pbuh) returned to Makkah and performed Umrah.
Zeeqad is one of the four sacred months in Islam during which warfare is prohibited, hence the name “Master of Truces”.
On 1st Zeeqad, we celebrate the birthday of Fatima bint Musa. The beloved daughter of Musa al Kazim(as) and sister of Imam Raza (as). Bibi has been the guiding light for us shia sisters in every walk of life.
Our eighth Imam, Imam Ali ibn Musa al Raza (as) was born on 11th Zeeqad. He is known for his piety and learning, and a number of works are attributed to him, including Al-Risala al-Dhahabia, Sahifa al-Rida, and Fiqh al-Rida. Imam Ali ibn Musa al Raza (as) shahadat is marked on the 23rd of Zeeqad.
Dahwul Arz, 25 Zeeqad is the day when the earth was spread for the advantage of human beings. The phrase ”Dahwul Ardh” literally means ”The spread of the earth”. On this day Allah (s.w.t) spread out ALL the land on the Earth under the Ka`bah.
Our ninth Imam, Imam Muhammad ibn Ali al Jawad (as) died on 29th of Zeeqad. At the time of the death of Imam ‘Ali Al-Raza’ (as) our 9th Imam was only 9 years old.
Wishing that with the blessings of Rasool-e-Khuda and Maula, we can learn and grow in the knowledge of our religion and spread the word of humanity and peace this Holy month.
